K-12 IT Services Across
the Midwest

Serving School Districts in Illinois, Missouri, Iowa, Minnesota, and Wisconsin

If your district is evaluating outside IT support, the first question is usually the simplest one: will anyone actually come out here? Quality Network Solutions has answered that question for school districts across the Midwest since 1997, and today serves districts in Illinois, Missouri, Iowa, Minnesota, and Wisconsin. We work with more than 200 districts, and we staff technicians regionally rather than dispatching them from a single hub. That means the person who shows up at your building has usually been there before.

QNS works exclusively with K-12 schools. Not schools alongside small businesses and dental offices. Schools only. Every service on this site was built around how districts actually operate, from the funding cycle to the summer refresh window to the reality that a network outage during state testing is a different kind of emergency.

Why Districts Across the Region Work With QNS

K-12 Exclusive Since 1997

Serving K-12 school districts exclusively since 1997. Schools only, nothing else.

200+ Districts Supported

More than 200 school districts supported across Illinois, Missouri, Iowa, Minnesota, and Wisconsin.

100+ Regional Technicians

Over 100 network technicians, based regionally rather than centrally.

133,000+ Managed Devices

More than 133,000 managed devices, including over 112,000 Chromebooks and tablets in 1:1 programs.

96% Same-Day Resolution

More than 74,000 service requests completed annually, with a 96 percent same-day resolution rate.

Fixed Pricing, No Travel Fees

Fixed-price contracts with no travel fees, so a service call in a rural district costs the same as one down the street.

Why Regional Coverage Matters More Than It Sounds

Most managed IT providers describe themselves as serving a state or a region. In practice, coverage often means something narrower. Districts discover the limits only after they have signed.

1. Travel Billed by the Mile

Travel billed by the hour or the mile, which quietly penalizes rural districts for their location.

2. Metro-Only Response Times

Response time commitments that apply to the provider's home metro and nowhere else.

3. Remote-First Support

Remote-first support models that work fine for software issues and not at all for a failed switch in a building forty miles away.

4. Unfamiliar Technicians

Technicians who have never seen the building, the wiring closet, or the twenty years of decisions layered into the network.

5. Thin Summer Coverage

Coverage that thins out over summer, exactly when districts do their heaviest infrastructure work.

How IT Support Is Delivered Across the Region

QNS was built the other way around. Technicians are placed regionally, contracts are priced without travel charges, and the technician assigned to your district is generally the same one each time.

Regional Technician Coverage

Technicians are assigned by geography, not pulled from a central queue. For most districts this means a consistent named technician who knows the buildings, the network layout, and the staff. Onsite visits are scheduled as part of the contract rather than billed as exceptions.

Remote and Help Desk Support

Day-to-day issues are resolved remotely wherever that is faster for the district. QNS resolves roughly 96 percent of help desk tickets the same day, so teachers get answers during the school day rather than waiting for a scheduled visit.

Onsite Project Work

Network upgrades, cabling, camera installations, and device rollouts are delivered onsite by technicians familiar with school buildings and school schedules. Project work is planned around the academic calendar, with the heaviest lifts landing in summer and over breaks.

Strategic Planning and Oversight

Beyond fixing what breaks, QNS works with technology directors and business officials on multi-year planning, refresh cycles, and budgeting. For districts without a full-time technology director, this often takes the form of ongoing virtual CIO support.

State-Specific Support

Each state QNS serves places different obligations on school districts, particularly around student data privacy. A provider working across five states needs to understand each framework rather than applying one standard everywhere.

Illinois districts operate under the Student Online Personal Protection Act, which has required written agreements with service providers who handle student data since July 1, 2021, along with annual public posting and designated privacy officers. Missouri districts work under a different framework built on documentation, access controls, and vendor contract safeguards, supported regionally through MOREnet and the Missouri Student Privacy Alliance. Iowa, Minnesota, and Wisconsin each set their own expectations as well, and QNS works within each district's framework rather than around it.

For a closer look at how support is structured in Illinois and Missouri, see Illinois K-12 IT Services and Missouri K-12 IT Services.

States We Serve

QNS supports K-12 school districts across five Midwest states, with technicians based regionally so that people and equipment are located near the districts they serve.

  • Illinois (corporate headquarters in Champaign)

  • Missouri

  • Iowa

  • Minnesota

  • Wisconsin

If your district is not certain whether it falls within regular coverage, the fastest answer is a phone call. Coverage extends well beyond the immediate area around each regional base.

The Scale of the Region

Illinois has 851 public school districts according to the Illinois State Board of Education, and MOREnet supports more than 400 K-12 schools across Missouri. Iowa, Minnesota, and Wisconsin add well over a thousand more districts to the region. The overwhelming majority are small and mid-sized districts operating without a large internal technology team.

That is the segment QNS was built for. A district with one technology coordinator covering four buildings has different needs than a large urban district with a full IT department, and a support model designed for the latter rarely fits the former.

Why Districts Choose QNS

Because QNS serves schools and nothing else, districts do not spend meetings explaining how schools work. Our technicians understand E-rate eligible infrastructure, 1:1 device programs, state testing windows, summer project cycles, and the specific pressure of supporting staff who are not IT specialists and should not have to be.

Fixed pricing is the other reason districts stay. Contracts are priced up front with no travel fees and no hourly surprises, which makes the cost predictable enough to defend in a board meeting. Districts moving from hourly or in-house models commonly see total technology costs fall by 15 to 50 percent.

Technology is constantly growing and changing. It is very costly and difficult for a small rural school to stay current and provide resources that afford our students the same reliable networks as students in larger districts. Since QNS first expanded into Missouri, they have provided tremendous support for me as a Superintendent, from network support down to recommending the best equipment and installation.  I am thankful for their guidance and knowledge about all things relating to technology.   They truly are a partner in education and I couldn't imagine running a district without them.
